Transformation of the Day: Tina lost 110 pounds. This mother of seven experienced significant weight gain and weight fluctuations over the years with each pregnancy. At the end of 2018, she started her transformation journey. Practicing intermittent fasting and switching to plant-based meals are two of the way she took action.

I have given birth to seven children. I’ve been battling with obesity since 1989 when I gained 80 pounds after giving birth to my oldest child. For each child, my weight has been up and down with every pregnancy. I gained 110 pounds with my 6th child. In 2005, I reached my heaviest weight ever, 310 pounds.

When did you start your weight loss journey?
On December 8, 2018, my journey began. I weighed 298 pounds. Now, I’ve lost 110 pounds in 20 months. My current weight is 189 pounds.

What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation is my mother and other family members who have health issues due to obesity. I’m inspired to have better health because I have seven children and nine grandchildren. That is what keeps me going.

How did you change your eating habits?
Intermediate fasting was the biggest life changer for me. Also, most of my meals are plant-based. I had to transform my mind to change my eating habits. It’s about all about being healthy.

No cheat days, only cheat meals or a cheat item. No diets, however I would eliminate certain foods from my meals for a while.

Tina before and after

Tell us about your workout routine.
I work out 3-7 days a week. I did a variety of different workout routines after I hit a weight loss plateau. I’ve done cardio (minimum of 30 minutes), light weight training, and boot camp sessions. I’ve worked out with friends, hired a personal trainer, swam laps, HIIT, etc… many different fitness routines to shock my body. I allowed my body needed rest and never gave up even when I wanted to.

What is your height?
I’m 6 feet tall.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No, I didn’t have surgery.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

Weight-loss begins in the kitchen. You Can Not Out Work A Bad Diet! It’s 80% Nutrition & 20% Fitness. 100% effort is required to become healthy.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
I’m not saying it is going to be easy, but it will be worth it.
