How To Search Venmo By Phone Number

You can take a few steps if you want to find someone on Venmo using a phone number.

Download and Set Up Venmo

Before you can find someone on Venmo, you must install the app on your mobile device first. Venmo is available for both iOS and Android, and you can download it from the first-string app stores. Once downloaded, follow the setup instructions, including linking your bank account or credit/debit card to the app. This step is crucial for sending or receiving payments.

Log In to Your Venmo Account

After successfully setting up Venmo, log in to your account using your email address, phone number, and password. Make sure you remember this information or store it securely.

Connect Your Contacts

Venmo allows you to connect with friends who are already on the platform through your phone contacts. To do this:

  • Tap the three horizontal lines (menu) in the top left corner of the app.
  • Select “Settings.”
  • Scroll down and tap “Friends & social.”
  • Tap “Connect Contacts” and grant the necessary permissions to access your contacts.

This step will help you find Venmo by phone number, making transactions and splitting bills more convenient.

Search for a User on Venmo

If the person you want to find on Venmo is not in your phone contacts or is not automatically discovered through the previous step, you can manually search for them if you know the phone. Here’s how to Venmo search by phone number:

  • Tap the “Search” icon disposed at the top right of the Venmo app, represented by a magnifying glass.
  • In the search bar, type the person’s full name, username, or phone number associated with their Venmo account.
  • Venmo will display a list of matching users. Review the results to find the person you are looking for.

If you don’t know the phone number, you can conduct a people search online. People search directories list numbers, names, places of work or business, addresses, and other information that can help you find someone’s contact information. Once you have the information, you can look up Venmo by phone number.

Send a Friend Request

Once you’ve found the person you want to connect with on Venmo, you can send them a friend request to make transactions and split bills easier in the future. To send a friend request:

  • Visit the user’s profile by tapping on their name or profile picture.
  • On their profile, tap the “Add Friend” button.
  • Venmo will send a friend request notification to the user, and they can select to accept or decline it.

It’s important to note that Venmo users have control over their privacy settings, and not everyone may want to connect with you or share their transactions publicly. Always respect others’ privacy choices and never attempt to access Venmo information without consent.

Connecting If Someone Doesn’t Want To Give Out Their Number

If you can’t find the phone number, you can connect in other ways:

1. Contact the Person Directly

If you have the person’s email or social media and want to connect with them on Venmo, consider contacting them directly through messaging or a phone call. Ask them to share their Venmo username or provide a link to their Venmo profile.

2. Use Social Media or Messaging Apps

Check if the person has linked their Venmo account to their social media profiles like Facebook or Twitter. Sometimes, people share their Venmo usernames on these platforms, making it easier for others to find and connect with them.

3. Ask for a QR Code

Venmo provides users with a QR code associated with their account. If the person is willing to share their Venmo QR code, you can scan it with your Venmo app to quickly find and connect with them.

Final Thoughts

Now you know how to search Venmo by phone number and other methods. Hopefully, this will make it easier to make payments or split bills in the future!
