While it may seem a minor problem to many, sleep apnea can really affect your sleep quality that can result in other health issues. It is why using CPAP is important for good sleep to relax the mind and body.

Step 2: Set up Humidifier 

If your CPAP machine has a humidifier, fill it with distilled water. Make sure it doesn’t exceed the level marked to avoid the water from entering the hose. 

Step 3: Plug in and turn on the CPAP

  • Now, plug the device into an electrical outlet. After this put the mask on your face, and secure it by attaching or pulling the straps.
  • Next, turn on your CPAP machine (if needed you can adjust the pressure but most of the time it is already done by your healthcare provider). Also, you can use the ramp function. This starts with lower pressure that gradually increases before reaching your prescribed pressure for the night. But it is optional.

  • To make a habit of using CPAP, try to wear a mask when not sleeping for a few days. 
  • Never spend a night without CPAP, use it consistently for better results. Irregular use won’t effectively treat your condition. 
  • Make sure that your mask is secured tightly so there is no leakage of air from it. Also, it should feel comfortable in the mouth.
