celebrating a loved one’s life after death

A funeral isn’t the only way to remember a deceased loved one and honor their life. There are many beautiful, fun, and uplifting ways you can celebrate a late family member or friend, which can support the healing process.

If you want to keep their spirit alive or feel closer to them, read on for helpful advice on how to celebrate a loved one’s life after their death.

  • Release Balloons into the Air

Plant a Memorial Tree

A memorial tree is a fantastic way to honor a loved one’s life while giving back to the planet. A Living Tribute can plant a tree in a specific state or region and preferred forest, and you can even decide how many trees you’d like to plant in a family member or friend’s memory.

It will provide you and your family with comfort knowing the tree will live on in their memory. Also, the trees will prevent deforestation, serve as a wildlife habitat, and create clear drinking water. You even have the option to send a commemorative card to a family member, which includes the number of tree plantings and their location in a U.S. national park or forest.

Host a Beautiful Firework Display

Another option is to host a beautiful fireworks display to celebrate a loved one. Gather their loved ones together to raise a glass to their life while watching beautiful bursts of light.

You could even choose fireworks that represent who they are. For instance, you could decorate the sky with their favorite colors or select fireworks that linger in the sky for a more poignant display. Consider synchronizing the fireworks to their favorite songs to provide guests with a meaningful experience.

In addition to setting off fireworks, your loved ones could write heartfelt messages to a deceased loved one before placing them inside paper lanterns and releasing them into the air. However, check local fire laws before you do so.

Release Balloons into the Air

If fireworks and paper lanterns aren’t to your taste, consider releasing balloons to remember a loved one. Many families may find it therapeutic to write personal notes to a deceased loved one before placing them inside the balloon. Once you’re ready to do so, you can let go of the string, allowing some of your grief to float away.

It’s a fantastic way to celebrate a loved one’s life while acknowledging they’ve moved on from Earth. It could help you come to terms with the loss and encourage you to move forward with your life.

Plan a Tribute Hike

If a late loved one loved the great outdoors, consider arranging a scenic hike with those they loved. Put on your walking boots and visit a location they loved, which will allow you to follow in their footsteps. You can guarantee you’ll feel their presence once you reach the top of a mountain or steep hill.

Additionally, a walk outdoors can make you feel happier, healthier, and mentally stronger, helping you deal with the pain and sadness of losing a much-loved family member or friend.
